Full Mouth Restoration

Complete smile rebuilds using All-on-X and implant-supported full arches — for patients with multiple failing or missing teeth who want a permanent, fixed solution.

What Is Full Mouth Restoration?

A complete rebuild — not a patch, a transformation

Full mouth restoration refers to the comprehensive reconstruction of an entire arch — upper, lower, or both — using dental implants as the foundation. The most common approach is All-on-4 or All-on-X: four to six strategically placed implants support a full arch of teeth that is fixed in place, does not come out, and functions like natural teeth.

This approach is fundamentally different from dentures. The prosthesis is screw-retained to the implants — you cannot remove it at home, it does not require adhesive, and it does not rest on the gums. It is anchored in bone, restores normal biting force, and preserves the jaw structure that dentures accelerate the loss of.

At Wellington Periodontal Associates, full mouth restorations are planned and the implant surgery performed entirely by Dr. Baradarian and Dr. Ceravolo — specialists who place implants every day. The surgical and restorative phases are coordinated in-house, minimizing the back-and-forth that full-arch cases often require when spread across multiple providers.

Approaches We Offer
  • All-on-4 (4 implants per arch)
  • All-on-6 (6 implants — greater stability)
  • Individual implant-supported bridges
  • Implant-retained overdentures
Timeline Overview
Consultation & planning: 1–2 visits
Surgery (implant placement): half-day
Temporary teeth: same day
Final prosthesis: 3–6 months
Same-Day Teeth
In many cases, patients leave the day of surgery with a full set of temporary teeth attached. You do not have to go home without teeth while the implants heal.
How It Works

From failing teeth to a fixed full arch

Full mouth restoration is a multi-phase process. Here is what most patients go through from first appointment to final smile.

1
Comprehensive Planning
3D cone-beam imaging, bite analysis, and careful implant positioning are planned digitally before surgery. Bone quality, sinus anatomy, and nerve locations are all mapped precisely.
2
Extractions & Implant Surgery
Remaining failing teeth are removed and implants are placed in the same surgical session. In All-on-X cases, temporary teeth are attached before you leave — same day.
3
Healing & Osseointegration
Over 3–6 months, the implants integrate with your bone while you function normally on the temporary prosthesis. We monitor healing closely throughout this period.
4
Final Prosthesis
Once integration is confirmed, the final — typically zirconia — full-arch prosthesis is fabricated and attached. The result is strong, beautiful, and designed to last decades.
Why Choose This Approach

How All-on-X compares to full dentures

Fixed, not removable
All-on-X teeth are screwed to implants — they stay in permanently. No removal at night, no soaking in a cup, no adhesive. They are as close to natural teeth as modern dentistry can achieve.
Full biting force restored
Dentures provide roughly 20–25% of natural biting force. Implant-supported full arches restore nearly 100% — meaning steak, apples, and corn on the cob are all back on the menu.
Bone preservation
Dentures accelerate jaw bone resorption — the bone shrinks because nothing stimulates it. Implants transmit biting forces into the bone, preserving its volume and your facial structure.
Speech and confidence restored
Loose dentures affect speech and make some people reluctant to laugh or speak in public. Fixed implant teeth give you the confidence to live — and speak — without thinking about your teeth.
Long-term value
Dentures require regular relining and eventual replacement. A well-maintained All-on-X prosthesis typically lasts 15–20+ years. The lifetime cost of implants is often lower than repeated denture replacement.
Same-day function
Most patients receive a full set of temporary teeth on the day of implant surgery. You walk in with failing or no teeth and leave with a smile — even before the final restoration is fabricated.
Am I a Candidate?

Full mouth restoration is right for patients who

You may be a strong candidate if you:

Are missing most or all teeth in one or both arches
Have multiple failing, broken, or severely decayed teeth requiring extraction
Wear full or partial dentures and want a permanent, fixed alternative
Have sufficient bone (or are willing to undergo grafting to create it)
Are a non-smoker or willing to stop, and are in reasonable general health
Concerned about bone volume?
The angled implant placement used in All-on-4 often allows patients to avoid bone grafting even when bone is limited. And for those who do need grafting first, we handle it in-house — so you see one team through the entire process.
What to Expect

Before, during, and after your full-arch restoration

Before
Full workup and digital planning
We take 3D scans, full-mouth records, and photos. Using implant planning software, we design the case virtually before surgery — placing implants digitally to optimize position, angulation, and bone engagement. You'll see the planned outcome before you commit.
During
Half-day surgical procedure
Extractions and implant placement happen in a single session under local anesthesia with sedation available. Most patients are comfortably sedated and have no memory of the procedure. You leave that day with teeth already attached.
After
Soft diet for 3 months, then normal life
The temporary prosthesis is functional immediately, but a soft diet protects the healing implants. We monitor healing closely and when integration is confirmed — typically at 3–6 months — we place the final high-strength zirconia arch.
Common Questions

Frequently asked about full mouth restoration

What is the difference between All-on-4 and All-on-6?
All-on-4 uses four strategically angled implants to support a full arch, which often allows treatment without bone grafting even in patients with bone loss. All-on-6 adds two additional implants for greater stability and load distribution, which can allow a heavier, more natural-feeling prosthesis. The right number of implants depends on your bone anatomy, arch size, and occlusal forces — we'll recommend what is optimal for your specific case.
How long does the full mouth restoration process take?
From first consultation to final prosthesis, the process typically takes 4–8 months. Planning takes 1–2 visits. Surgery is a single half-day appointment. Osseointegration takes 3–6 months. If bone grafting is needed first, add another 4–6 months before implant surgery. Patients who need grafting should plan for 9–15 months total. This sounds long — but you have functioning temporary teeth the entire time.
Will I be awake during the surgery?
The surgery is performed under local anesthesia, and IV sedation is available for patients who prefer to be deeply relaxed or essentially asleep during the procedure. Most full-arch patients opt for sedation given the length of the appointment. You'll need a driver to take you home. Sedation option and comfort level are discussed in detail at your planning appointment.
How do I care for implant-supported full arch teeth?
Daily hygiene is essential but straightforward: a water flosser cleans beneath the prosthesis where a toothbrush can't reach, and a soft-bristle brush keeps the outer surfaces clean. You'll also need periodic professional cleanings — typically twice a year — where we remove the prosthesis, clean underneath, and inspect the implants and hardware. Routine screw checks are recommended annually. With good care, the implants can last a lifetime.
